These are such valuable questions. Questions 1 and 2 are similar to thoughts I had. I was surprised when I realized MoMA was not free to NYC residents. Also, I noticed that many of the visitors were tourists resting from their excursions which brings us to your question, is the intended audience receiving the opportunity to enter this space?.
As for resting in public, I am reminded of people laying on the great lawn of central park. (Now that I write this…there is usually a book in the lounging person’s hand..hmmm…reading and rest…leisure? luxury?).
For your third question…I don’t know. But, I have been learning about and trying to practice self-care and self-compassion. A part of practicing these is a hope that my children will have an example of this practice.
